Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

CNBC Select is looking for a knowledgeable, audience-driven Editor to lead editorial coverage of credit card and credit monitoring topics. This editor will manage and edit a team of two reporters, ensuring all content is accurate, compliant, and provides actionable value to readers. The role involves pitching, writing, and editing engaging stories that grow site traffic, build reader trust, and drive conversions. The ideal candidate has experience in content strategy, commerce, and service journalism, with a talent for making complex financial topics accessible and consumer-friendly. This editor will also serve as CNBC Select’s credit card expert across platforms, including social, broadcast, and industry events.

Oversee credit card and credit monitoring content for CNBC SelectManage and edit a team of two reporters Writing/reporting as neededEnsure content across the vertical is accurate, fair, and provides value to our readersIdeate new and engaging content ideas that bring new users to the site, build loyalty and generate conversions (often all at once)Monitor credit card vertical’s analytics to understand performance and identify areas for improvement Work very closely with Compliance to make frequent and timely updates as neededAppear as CNBC Select’s credit card expert on social, broadcast, and other platforms as needed. Represent the CNBC Select team at industry events Stay up-to-date on the news cycle and generate consumer content that aligns with trends, news, etc.Build posts in CMS

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary Range - $75,000-$105,000 (bonus eligible) 

Qualifications

Requirements:

At least 5 years editorial experience, commerce experience a plusAt least 2 years of direct editing experience, with a portfolio of commerce or service journalism contentAt least 2 years’ experience managing writersMust have experience in content strategy and/or commerce; experience in service journalism / explaining complex topics in a relatable consumer-friendly wayExperience developing content strategy tied to engagement and audience growth goalsWork experience with a growing brand a plusWork experience for a major news brand a plus

Desired Characteristics:

Above average knowledge of credit cards, credit card rewards and best practicesDemonstrated strong management and leadership skillsFirm grasp of AP Style: spelling, grammar and punctuationDemonstrable understanding of using primary sources and experts to inform fact-based, grounded consumer adviceAbility to turn complex topics into consumer-friendly service journalismDeep understanding of SEO—including keyword search, content structure and on-page optimizationAttention to detail and ability to make quick decisionsExcellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teamsAbove average knowledge of personal finance products and best practicesKnowledge of financial affiliate marketing platforms and monetization strategy a plusExperience working closely with social teams a plus
