The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express products and services through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing, and experiences. We are focused on developing forward thinking ideas and work across channels, end-to-end experiences in digital and beyond. We are seeking a Creative Director of Design.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must exhibit outstanding design judgment and guide the design team in achieving the highest possible standards. The candidate must have experience working with designers, copywriters, CDs, creative teams, UX/UI and strategy, guiding design creation and setting the design direction. This individual has worked at a CD level leading a small team of designers. This individual will be responsible to connecting the creative approach to the business strategy. The candidate must be able to convincingly present creative design concepts to all parties.
This individual will play a critical role to attract, retain and develop best-in-industry agency design talent and build a culture delivering transformative work elevating the Amex brand across the enterprise. The Creative Director of Design will report to the VP, Head of Design.
**Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**
+ Provide leadership/motivation and convey the vision and values of the agency
+ Mentor multiple design team members, providing clear direction and constructive feedback
+ Elevate design across print/digital/Social and video.
+ Develop holistic and robust memorable/iconic VI/branding from start to finish.
+ Develop deep client relationships enable seamless delivery of high-quality design solutions
+ Bring cohesive design direction to Head of Design and assists in delivering creative ideas to business units where relevant
+ Give clear and concise actionable feedback across all design mediums including social and digital
+ Actively identifies new opportunities and future trends
+ Build and mentor design talent to amplify a culture of inclusion and belonging
+ Find creative opportunities where possible even if they haven't been assigned
+ Actively engage in training of design staff.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ 12 years of experience in Design, preferably within branding agencies/ in-house experience is a plus.
+ 8 years at a Creative Director level
+ Expert in all things design across all channels and platforms.
+ Experience overseeing and guiding multiple designers
+ Ability to understand insights and strategies to translate into compelling brand expression and experience.
+ Branding/VI expert.
+ Ability to combine world class conceptual thinking with highest quality output.
+ Captivating presentation skills
**Qualifications**
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
