Job Overview:

The Creative Arts Therapist provides clinical groups/assessments to adult inpatients throughout their treatment.

The Creative Arts Therapist is responsible for providing creative art therapies in art, music, recreation, dance, or drama to best serve the needs of adult psychiatric inpatients.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Creative Arts Modality

Music therapy position requires a minimum of a bachelors degree and must be within 8 months of receiving masters

Board certification eligible in Art, Dance, Music, Drama, or Recreation Therapy

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift working, 8:00 4:00pm Weekend/evening and some holiday coverage as neededFT

Participate in the management of crises as directedParticipate in treatment planning meetings, program participant/staff meetings, and group and community meetings as requiredContribute to the formation, carrying out, and updating of treatment plans elaborated by the staffReport behavioral and/or physical changes in condition to the program director and according to policy and procedureMaintain open channels of communication with associates, participants, and families; works within a multifamily group as appropriateAssess social, perceptual, and physical skills, and re-creative resources according to discipline-specific standardsDevelop treatment interventions both group and individual-oriented, utilizing an integrated theoretical framework to: elicit expression, communication, and response from verbally defended clientsIncrease self-understanding and insight development through exploration of symbolic content in creative arts modalityDiagnostically elicit information not readily available through verbal assessment proceduresDevelop self-esteem, problem-solving skills, organization, and risk-taking through creativityIntegrate and sequence the creative processResolve conflict through the use of creative art modalitiesTeach relaxation techniques, when indicatedUtilize knowledge of resources to assist in leisure time planning
