The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. **Responsibilities** + Be able to operate and generally maintain all types of light and heavy equipment, both diesel and gasoline engines. + Must know quadrant of operation, read/load charts, know the structural/stability of all cranes and know the dynamic and shock loading of cranes. + Select, secure and adjust suitable chains, cables, slings, hooks and other lifting and securing devices to properly load/unload and balance a variety of equipment, and other items being moved or positioned by mobile cranes. + Safety check cranes, forklifts, Aerial Platforms etc., before and after operations. + Operate Mobile Hydraulic cranes. Operate motor vehicles with responsibility for proper loading and unloading. May operate heavy trucks and truck-trailers (4-ton and over) to transport materials and equipment to various areas within the installation. + Operate ground support equipment as required to accomplish work assignment. + Ability to fabricate wire rope and proof load equipment. **Qualifications - External** High School Diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area and three years related experience. **Depending on the candidate’s experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.** • NCCCO prefereed and Class A CDL with hazmat. • Effective verbal and written communicate skills. • Analytical and problem solving skills. • Ability to hold the necessary security clearances. • Ability to obtain and maintain valid certifications, licenses, and permits, as required for performance of assigned tasks. • Requires the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and managers. **Essential Functions** **Physical Requirements** + Position may involve extended periods of sitting, walking, standing and use of stairs. + Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. + Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. **Work Environment** + Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex. + Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site. + All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards. **Equipment and Machines** + Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies. + Cranes and other heavy equipment such as crane carriers, Hi-Rangers, man lift platforms, hydraulic lifts, spider staging, converter dollies, cargo lift trailers, and tractor/trailers. + Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance. + Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies **Attendance** + Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week. + Must be dependable and punctual. + Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule **Other Essential Functions** • If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required. • Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills. • Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives. • Government security clearance may be required in the future. • Must be able to travel to support position requirements.
