IntentThe Cathodic Protection Engineer is accountable for providing CP engineering expertise in the service of the Production and Refinery integrity teams and projects teams in designing, operating and maintaining CP systems for the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient operations. The role will support bothy onshore and offshore operations.
ResponsibilitiesProvide CP engineering expertise to production and refinery operations teams across P&O (production & operations) (Operations, Maintenance & Reliability, Projects Ops, Turnarounds) to support operating CP systems on equipment.Support projects teams with the design of CP systems for new build or facility modifications.Support operations with interpreting CP monitoring data, troubleshooting systems and interference problems to ensure protection.Provide CP specialist input to supervising plans and CP surveys.Provide input to CP design standards.People and business related:Provide visible safety leadership in accordance with bp safety leadership principles, lifesaving rules and process safety fundamentals to model desired safety behaviorsRecord relevant learning in shared learning systems, incorporate into local activities, specifications/ practices/ procedures and raise high priority lessonsSupport performance management through implementation, measurement, and analysis of relevant KPI’s to drive continuous improvement.EducationMust have education requirements:Degree in Corrosion or Materials Engineering related discipline (e.g., chemical engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, civil engineering).Post graduate certification in corrosion.Must have certifications:NACE / AMPP Cathodic Protection Specialist Level 3 or alternatively Corr Level 3 SpecialistPreferred education/certifications:Professional accreditation e.g., Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer (IOM3, IChemE, Institute of Corrosion).Above ground storage tank inspection, inspection data analysis for corrosion ratesCertification and/or in-depth knowledge NACE / AMPP Senior Corrosion Technologist, BSI ISO/ ENI AS Standards, AWS/ CSWIP/ ASNT NDT Techniques

Operational corrosion management experience monitoring / managing CP systems.Technical expertise in various areas related to the discipline applied to Operations. These include:Offshore CP systemsOnshore CP systemsCP on fixed structures, floating structures and pipelinesInternal Cathodic protection systemsSacrificial anode systemsImpressed current systemsAnode, AC, DC and electrical InterferenceIndustry standards for CP systems design and operationLiquid Organic and Pipeline CoatingsCP ModellingPeople leadership, teamwork, and an ability to network and influence across organizational boundaries.Proficient in English, written and oral.Individual must be highly motivated and a self-starterGood to have experiences/skills (Can be trained for – learning/on-the-job):
