Summary

Position Highlights:

The Courier is responsible for receiving, reconciliation, distribution and shipping of all incoming specimens, as well as some supplies and equipment. Provides for the efficient operation and timely delivery of specimen packages, supplies, and, on occasion, staff, to the offsite facilities occupied by Moffitt Cancer Center staff on a regularly scheduled basis. Provides for "STAT" deliveries and pick-up of such materials and staff. Cross coverage for other departments, including tissue core.

 

Responsibilities:

Provide safe and timely transportation in support of Moffitt satellite operations, including specimen transports, supply transports and/or other routine information/materials exchanges between MCC campuses. Provide safe and timely transportation for staff between MCC campuses. Assist in the maintenance of a safe, clean, and well-maintained vehicle(s). Prepares and maintains electronic work reports for transports and bio-specimen transfers.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED Valid FL Driver’s License required. Requires one-year experience, preferably in a healthcare environment involving receipt and distribution. Bio-specimen experience preferred. IATA Training required (can be obtained after employment). Must have the ability to stand and walk throughout the entire workday, together with the ability to lift, carry and unload supplies and specimens as required with a general high level of physical activity on a daily basis. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Consistently paying close attention to detail in verifying descriptions, quantity and correct units of measure is required. Valid Driver's License with evidence of an excellent driving record. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good telephone etiquette and ability to interact with employees and management. Intermediate computer skill levels, to include MS Excel, outlook, calendar, and geographical software programs. Ability to be self-motivated and work independently. Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and pressured environment.

 

Preferred

Associate's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Applied Science. Three-year experience, preferably in a healthcare environment involving receipt and distribution. Basic Life Support (BLS). CDL, Class C P Endorsement. IATA Certification.
