Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Leader to oversee the daily operations of our customs brokerage team.

The role is crucial for facilitating the timely release of shipments and optimizing the import/export process. 

The Brokerage Supervisor works with customers, operators and customs officials.

Oversee daily operations of the customs brokerage teamEnsure compliance with all customs regulations and proceduresCoordinate with clients and customs officials as necessarySupervise the preparation and submission of necessary documentationTrain and mentor junior staff membersAssist with the resolution of customs-related issuesMaintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and proceduresMonitor and manage performance metrics

Position Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the person in such position will be :

The compliance, training, recordkeeping, and supervision of the brokerage department team to ensure and promote company’s service.All the transactions and interactions with Greek Customs and all other government agencies at the local level.Manage the relation with 3rd party brokers to maintain a compliant and on time clearance process & achieve a high-quality service to the customers contributing to the growth objectives of the company.Manage and assist with commercial business development, implementing changes where necessary.  Support individuals in identifying and addressing performance gaps to enhance skills and capabilitiesAssist and educate local brokerage department team on compliance requirements for GR Customs and clearance processes providing resources and training as needed. Provide guidance to customers with general import concerns, including Classification, Valuation, Clearance and post entry work. Review Daily, Weekly, Monthly BSC results for providing FLASH explanations.Complete self-audits & establish, update and review departmental procedures & LOP by monitoring audit key controls implementation.Prepare & Review Weekly, Monthly, Yearly Brokerage Reports including Business Plan.Ensure the subordinates are organized, productive, and compliant with all government and company requirements.Verify all duty payments, duty statements are paid timely with all company outlays following the corporate guidelines for duty advancements.Partner with the local central operation team to oversee the day-to-day shipments movement and ensure the workflow is adequately managed, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and handling any escalated issues from your team.Representation in customs related committees.Responsible for annual employment reviews.Maintain up to date knowledge, including any needed continuing education of the regulations and procedures of the Customs and Trade Importation from non EU countries, for the classification and entry of the goods along with other government agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven experience as a Customs Brokerage Supervisor or similar roleKnowledge of Greek customs laws, regulations, practices and procedures.Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Strong computer skills including Microsoft OfficeWork Experience in ERP software systems (previous work experience in ORIAN will be a plus)Detail oriented, able to meet strict deadlines and work in a fast paced environment.Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors and government officials.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Three to Five years’ experience in similar position and industry.A minimum of 2 years working in a supervisory role.Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, BA or in Finance & Accounting.Professional use of EN & GR Languages (oral and written).Licensing in Customs Broker profession will be considered as plus.
