Counselor (Art Therapist)– Maryview Medical Center

Counselor (Art Therapist)– Maryview Medical Center 

Hours: Full-time 32hrs per week

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position 

The Counselor provides direct patient care under the guidance of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH). 

Licensing/Certification 

Required to have one of the below upon hire or within 24 months of hire:  

Counselor in Training (CIT) 

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) 

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) 

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) 

 

Registered Art Therapist (ATR) (preferred) 

Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) (preferred) 

 

Education 

Masters, Counseling, Expressive Art or related field (required) 

 

Work Experience 

Experience in a healthcare or social services setting (preferred)  

If associate is a non-licensed eligible counselor, must have a minimum of one year work experience in healthcare, human or social services setting. 

 

Essential Job Functions  

Psychoeducation group facilitation 

Provides in-person facilitation of intensive outpatient program (IOP), partial hospitalization program (PHP), outpatient psychotherapy 

Individual, family and group psychotherapy 

Participates in family and treatment team meetings 

Provides crisis assessment and referral services 

Completes psychosocial Assessments -within scope and clinical supervision 

Participates in discharge planning 

Information gathering 

Community resource knowledge and collaboration 

May completes substance use disorder (SUD) screenings, patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9), Columbia-Suicide Rating Scale (C-SSRS), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) screening, and Social Determinants of Health screenings 

SUD discharge planning 

PASSR completion 

May complete post-discharge calls 

May participate in 15 minute rounding 

Successfully participates to complete BSMH and departmental specific training as required
