Counsel-Payments and Regulatory Compliance

What does a successful Counsel do at Fiserv? This lawyer will initially support digital wallets and disbursement and payout solutions within the Merchant Solutions division of Fiserv with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating agreements with strategic bank partners and merchants. As a Counsel, you will also provide regulatory advice on laws and rules relating to our merchant business (including BSA/AML, money transmission, and Nacha). This lawyer will work closely with senior business and sales executives.

What you will do:

Work directly with business unit representatives to prepare and negotiate commercial agreements.Advise business partners on legal, contractual, and risk matters impacting their business unit or product set.Partner with product teams to commercialize new products and functionality.Provide consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, and dispute resolution.Effectively interact with corporate specialists regarding credit, risk, compliance, finance, audit, tax, regulatory, privacy, and technology matters that impact the Merchant Solutions division.Develop and maintain forms of contracts and other legal documentation.

What you will need to have:

JD from an accredited law school, and licensed to practice, with the ability to become licensed as in-house counsel to practice in the applicable state.In good standing with the State Bar with no disciplinary record.Experience as a transactional lawyer.Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.5+ years of experience in providing regulatory advice on laws and rules relating to merchant businesses.

What would be great to have:

Experience interacting with senior management.Experience navigating data use and privacy matters.Experience in technical contract negotiation.Exposure to financial services and technology contracts.Knowledge of financial services laws and network requirements (e.g., Reg E, BSA/AML, money transmission, Nacha rules, etc.).

Salary Range

$88,500.00 - $158,100.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
