Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. This is a Versant role.  The Role: The Counsel, Compliance will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the company’s ethics and compliance program. This is a high-impact role responsible for partnering across the business to advise on compliance risks, support key compliance initiatives, and foster a culture of integrity and accountability. The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic, business-oriented legal professional with deep expertise in compliance, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. This position reports to the SVP, Chief Compliance Officer. Responsibilities: + Provide practical legal and regulatory advice to internal clients on compliance with applicable laws and company policies across a range of matters and transactions. + Support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of core global compliance program elements, including risk assessments, policies, training, monitoring, metrics, and investigations oversight. + Collaborate cross-functionally to communicate, obtain buy-in for, and drive compliance priorities. + Conduct comprehensive business risk assessments for relevant business units to identify potential areas of compliance risk; develop and implement risk mitigation plans. + Partner with internal stakeholders to develop, implement, communicate and maintain legal and compliance policies and procedures. + Support investigation and evaluation of allegations of non-compliance, and drive implementation of remedial and preventive action as necessary. Basic Qualifications: + A law degree from an ABA-accredited law school. + Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of New York or member in good standing of another State Bar and registered as New York in-house counsel. + A minimum of 4 years of experience with an in-house legal/compliance department, top tier law firm and/or a regulatory or enforcement agency. + Substantive experience advising on compliance issues, including but not limited to, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Trade Controls/Sanctions, Consumer Protection, Conflicts of Interest, Gifts and Business Entertainment, Political Activities/Pay to Play, Government Contracts, or other areas. + Experience conducting internal investigations, government investigations, and/or equivalent experience in the white-collar crimes practice area. + Proficiency in leveraging data and technology to inform compliance strategy and decision making. Additional Information: + Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
