Cost Controller
Job Title: Cost Controller Job Description Join a leading North American infrastructure development company involved in transformational projects within transportation and energy sectors. Contribute to the impactful work at Dominion Energy's North Anna Power Station in Mineral, VA, where planning, design, and equipment replacement are key focuses. Responsibilities + Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselines. + Create the Cost Breakdown Structure, Cost accounts, and Budget distribution. + Establish a Cost Control system, EVM framework, KPI’s, and Dashboard, including Rules of Credit as per EVM standards and best practices. + Adhere to Contract requirements in setting up Client Reporting structure and deliverables, including KPI’s and payment milestones. + Coordinate resource planning with Scheduler while establishing the baseline schedule. + Create Cash flow in coordination with Finance. + Conduct Variance Analysis, compare Progress to Budgets considering progress, EVM metrics, and reforecast as needed. + Audit Cost allocations and charges (including Timesheets and Subcontractor invoices) and propose corrective actions. + Ensure cost performance is aligned with schedule progress including resources. + Coordinate with Finance to monitor cash position, support billing and invoicing. + Conduct and facilitate Risk Review meetings to adjust Contingency and Risk budgets and allowances. + Coordinate with Procurement and Finance in issuing Purchase Orders to Subcontractors and Suppliers and closing accounts at project completion. + Maintain the Change Management System; record and report changes, analyze impacts, issue change notifications, and assist the commercial team in submitting particulars. + Lead the internal reporting processes, aligning with client reports. + Optimize current processes, tools, and reports. + Develop project-specific Project Controls Plan in alignment with General Plans. + Contribute to the enhancement of Corporate Project Controls Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures as per industry standards. + Enhance templates for all Project Controls tools. + Record lessons learned for future proposals and projects. Essential Skills + 4-7 years of Project Controls experience. + College and/or University degree in a related field, OR applicable work experience. + Applied knowledge of the “Earned Value” principles and cost engineering/cost control. + Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles, including PMBOK concepts. + Experience working in SAP systems and proficient in Microsoft Excel & Visio. + Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Primavera P6. + Ability to produce, read, and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports. + Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment. + Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). + Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees. + Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge. + Detail-oriented and customer-focused. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in construction, balance sheet analysis, and construction management. + Project accounting expertise. Work Environment The work environment primarily consists of office settings with the possibility of high-pressure work site conditions.
