Royal Mail International Operations is based at HWDC (Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre), one of the UK largest, and most efficient automated Hubs in the UK. Worldwide import and exports items are processed through HWDC, which operations 24/7 to strict customs and aviation security specifications and connects over 195 countries worldwide.

To support the operation, HWDC has a vacancy for a strategic and results-driven International Cost and Efficiency Manager to lead cost-saving initiatives and performance improvements across our international processing operations.


The role


As a key member of the International Operations team, you’ll design and implement best-in-class processes that reduce transactional costs and non-direct operational expenditure and collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to drive measurable improvements. You will:

Lead the design of enabling agreements and bonus schemes with key stakeholders including the CWU to deliver value in line with budgetary requirements.Develop and maintain performance reporting to drive results and support strategic decision-making.Provide critical management information to support the Production Control Manager and resource planning teams.Input to the operational cost mapping for all International products, overseeing the maintenance, updating with changes and new products.  Own and evolve our Cost per Format (CPF) models to influence key stakeholders and shape business planning.


Attendance - Monday to Friday, approx 07:00 - 16:00. A degree of flexibility is required to meet operational demands.

 

About you


You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your application:

From a logistics or distribution background with a good understanding of international operations, performance management and financial control processes.Leading and delivering large-scale change initiatives, driving measurable improvements in efficiency and cost control.Strong presentation skills and the ability to guide people with no financial background in their understanding of financial management.Lead strategic financial discussions, leveraging a strong commercial mindset and deep business acumen to influence planning and decision-making.The ability to work with trade unions, especially through major change. Experience of directing and motivating teams, managing performance and cost management.Excellent communication and relationship management skills with a proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders.Experienced in Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP financial systems.
