Purpose of the role

The Cost Analyst I supports project delivery by monitoring and reporting on cost performance, labor hours, and financial progress across assigned projects. This role provides accurate and timely cost data to assist in forecasting, decision-making, and project controls. By ensuring financial transparency and early identification of cost trends, the Cost Analyst I contributes to Worley’s commitment to delivering sustainable change and supporting customers in meeting the energy, chemicals, and resources needs of today while transitioning toward a more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare project cost reports to provide visibility of financial performance, supporting effective project execution and alignment with Worley’s sustainability goals.

Monitor labor hours and cost progress to identify trends, support corrective action planning, and assist with forecasting future costs.

Contribute to the preparation of estimates for scope changes, contract variations, and additional work orders.

Conduct periodic site visits to verify data accuracy, review cost reporting, and maintain alignment with field activities.

Collaborate with project managers, planners, and other stakeholders to ensure cost and schedule data are fully integrated into project controls.

Apply standard project controls processes and tools, ensuring compliance with established procedures and best practices.

Assist in identifying risks and opportunities related to cost performance, escalating issues as required for resolution.

Develop communication skills by preparing and presenting cost data in clear, concise formats for management and client reporting.

Support the continuous improvement of cost control systems, tools, and reporting methods that enhance project transparency and efficiency.

*Qualifications / Skill set

University degree in finance, engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Foundational experience in project cost control, project accounting, or a related field, preferably within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.

Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to identify cost trends and variances.

Proficiency in cost control systems, tools, and reporting software, with an understanding of how these integrate with project management systems.

Detail-oriented with the ability to work with accuracy under supervision and to follow established processes and procedures.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new processes, tools, and methodologies in a professional setting.
