Cost Accounting and Accounts Payable Manager

As the Cost Accounting Manager, you are responsible for overseeing the cost accounting function and managing the accounts payable team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate cost tracking, product costing, variance analysis, and timely and efficient processing of vendor payments. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and experience in both cost accounting and accounts payable operations.

Your Challenge:

Cost Accounting:

Develops, implements, and maintains policies, and procedures for Cost Accounting Department.

Manages the cost accounting staff to complete projects. Ensures that company policies are followed regarding financial reporting requirements

Maintain and update standard cost systems and analyze manufacturing costs.

Oversees the gathering of historical cost data, investigation of cost structures, and preparation of budget versus actual expenses.

Oversees budget preparation as it relates to inventory, material cost, warranty, obsolescence and operations departments

Perform cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and communicate findings to operations.

Support inventory valuation, including cycle counts and physical inventory.

Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to improve cost efficiencies.

Prepare cost-related reports and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.

Accounts Payable:

Supervise the accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

Oversee month-end AP closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Optimize AP processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

What You Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting

Ability to manage projects, deadlines, and cross-functional initiatives.

Proven ability to manage and mentor a team of cost accountants.

Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, including cost allocation, variance analysis, budgeting, and cost control

7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
