Cost Accountant Staff
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate standard costs in the ERP system and for the processes necessary to accurately account for the cost of goods sold and the appropriate valuation of inventory. You will be supporting marketing and management in the estimation of proposed project costs so we can price the jobs appropriately and support potential audits by the DCAA of the cost proposals. You will be managing Internal Controls Campaign (i.e., validating, testing and writing); direct point of contact for Internal Controls. You will be developing, implementing, and maintaining costing systems to track company's expenses and revenue.

Your Challenge
Manage accounting for cost of sales and inventories
Monitor programs and perform detailed cost analysis of all projects and budgets within the Company and compare with targets
Generate various performance reports including cost at completion information for designated projects
Maintain standard costs and ensure accuracy of rolled up cost in the ERP system to include appropriate unit of measures, links to correct purchasing data, and other details in the system
Analyze and investigate all variances and communicate cause and help implement processes to reduce them
Support job proposals by maintaining the cost element of the Price Book or prepare auditable estimates of systems and spare parts requirements utilizing computer generated data and supplier contracts to obtain latest material costs
Interface with operations department to estimate direct labor content of component parts, finishes and assemblies
Monitor programs and perform detailed cost analysis of all projects and budgets within the Company and compare with targets
Generate various performance reports including cost at completion information for designated projects
Preparing and completing internal/external cost audits
Design, develop and implement improvements to the Company cost information and control system and procedures as required
Research and compile information for inquiries from other departments regarding Company cost data on projects or budgets like R&D or Quality
Inventory management-perform cycle counts audit during the year to provide an ongoing measure of inventory accuracy and procedure execution
Work with materials department to correct errors and identify root causes and enforce internal controls
Perform other miscellaneous duties as required by the Controller including participating in month-end closings and various inventory analyses (as required.)
What You Bring
BS in Business Administration or Accounting with good analytical ability and knowledge of standard cost methods and procedures. Knowledge of plant operations and financial reporting
Minimum of 3 to 7 years’ experience in cost accounting at a manufacturing company and familiar with job order costing
Must have experience with Excel and typical ERP systems (SyteLine knowledge is desirable) and database reporting tools
DOD cost accounting experience is strongly preferred
Good judgment, planning and initiative required for analytical ability plus the exercise of discretion to effectively communicate conclusions. Creativity required in the design and improvement of manufacturing cost control and information systems to ensure meaningful results
Responsible for clerical inaccuracies and inappropriate presentations. There is some review of work; however, inaccuracies can affect Company’s profits and balance sheet representation as inventories are typically the second largest asset
Frequent contact with all levels of employees within the Company are required to obtain accurate information and present effective recommendations. Must work effectively with outside auditors from both the government and corporate side
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is beneficial
