Cost Accountant
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on manufacturing costs to support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, manufacturing processes, and ERP systems. Key Responsibilities: + Analyze and report on manufacturing costs including materials, labor, and overhead. + Maintain and update standard costs in the ERP system. + Perform monthly cost variance analysis and explain deviations. + Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to understand cost drivers. + Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate valuation. + Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to manufacturing. + Support month-end and year-end close processes with cost accounting entries. + Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconciliations. + Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. + Prepare reports for management on cost trends and profitability. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment. + Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles. + Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Excel. + Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications: + CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification. + Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies. + Familiarity with inventory management and production planning systems. Working Conditions: + Office and manufacturing floor environment. + Occasional travel to plant locations may be required.
