Cost Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in University Park, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and managing manufacturing costs, preparing financial reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities to ensure efficient business operations. This position requires close collaboration with various departments to identify cost-saving opportunities and maintain compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities: • Analyze and monitor production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, to ensure accurate financial reporting. • Prepare detailed cost reports, product costing analyses, and variance evaluations to support decision-making. • Develop and maintain standard cost accounting systems to streamline processes and improve accuracy. • Collaborate with procurement, production, and finance teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements. • Conduct inventory valuation and reconciliation to maintain accurate records. • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all cost-related transactions are accounted for. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives to align with organizational goals. • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards related to cost accounting. • Coordinate periodic forecasts and contribute to the development of annual financial plans. The salary range for this position is $35/hr to $40/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements • Must possess IFS software experience • Proven experience in cost accounting, particularly in a manufacturing environment. • Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting principles and practices. • Proficiency in cost analysis and reporting tools. • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Familiarity with inventory valuation and reconciliation processes. • Strong analytical skills to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
