Description
We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will take ownership of financial reporting, product costing, inventory management, and analytics to support manufacturing and supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting and a proven ability to deliver insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review month-end journal entries with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct inventory reconciliations, variance analyses, and ensure effective manufacturing controls.
• Coordinate cost rolls and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Analyze labor and overhead rates, Bill of Materials, and throughput rates to ensure accurate product costing.
• Develop standard operating processes for cost analysis and profitability evaluations.
• Lead physical inventory counts and provide detailed reviews and analyses.
• Monitor manufacturing variances in the monthly profit and loss statements and recommend corrective actions.
• Create automated metrics for labor efficiency and productivity to support operational improvements.
• Collaborate with supply chain teams to evaluate commodity costs and their financial impacts.
• Support freight analysis, capex tracking, and the development of KPIs for cost trend monitoring.
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in manufacturing cost accounting and standard cost methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Experience in inventory management, including variance analysis and physical inventory audits.
• Familiarity with cost analysis tools and systems.
• Ability to prepare detailed product costing reports and profitability analyses.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Advanced proficiency in financial reporting and analytics tools.
