Description We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Waco, Texas. This Contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to play a critical role in analyzing and managing financial data related to manufacturing and inventory processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cost systems, variance analysis, and compliance while supporting the organization’s financial goals.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze and document costs associated with business activities, including inventory and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain and regularly update the company's standard cost system, including reviewing bills of materials and associated routers.
• Prepare detailed reports for management that highlight factors influencing product pricing and profitability.
• Investigate and compare actual manufacturing costs to standard costs and generate monthly reports to identify discrepancies.
• Conduct monthly analysis of scrap, usage, and purchase price variance to support accurate financial reporting.
• Monitor and evaluate budgeted versus actual expenditures to pinpoint areas for improvement.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee cycle counting policies to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Administer and record transactions related to the fixed asset system, including reporting depreciation methods for tax purposes.
• Assist in the month-end closing process for the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Track capital expenditures and verify productivity projects to align with financial objectives. Requirements
• Manufacturing Industry background
• Proficiency in accounting software systems and ERP platforms.
• Strong knowledge of auditing practices and accounting functions.
• Familiarity with budget processes and financial reporting.
• Experience in manufacturing environments and raw material inventory management.
• Ability to conduct cycle counts and analyze inventory variance.
• Expertise in analyzing financial variances and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Solid understanding of fixed asset systems and depreciation methods.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
