Cost Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Plymouth, Wisconsin. In this role, you will monitor and analyze financial data to ensure accurate costing, reporting, and reconciliation across various operational areas. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and provide insightful cost analyses to inform strategic decisions. Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain accurate standard costs for products, ingredients, and packaging, including freight and landed cost components. • Ensure timely and precise actual cost calculations for cheese production, completing monthly cost rolls and analyzing market-driven changes. • Monitor, analyze, and report manufacturing and purchase price variances, providing detailed explanations for weekly and monthly fluctuations. • Close and review work orders for accuracy, training plant team members on related procedures and processes. • Reconcile inventory data with general ledger accounts and prepare monthly financial reports, including inventory metrics and account reconciliations. • Set up and validate cost records for new inventory items, ensuring proper general ledger and category code functionality. • Collaborate with procurement and shared services to address transactional discrepancies impacting costing accuracy. • Conduct audits of cost accounting components and coordinate physical inventory observations with external auditors. • Support budget and forecast processes by providing item costs aligned with market assumptions. • Perform ad hoc cost analyses and contribute to cross-functional projects requiring financial insights. Requirements • Proficiency in accounting software systems such as Epicor, ADP, and Crystal Reports. • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and enterprise resource planning processes. • Experience with accounts payable, auditing, and budget preparation. • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare detailed cost reports. • Familiarity with inventory reconciliation and general ledger account management. • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to automate tasks and perform data testing. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments. • Attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
