Cost Accountant
Position Description At a Glance Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aCost Accountantto join the Legrand Cablofil - Electrical Wiring Systems (EWS) Teamin Mascoutah, IL. Responsible for ensuring the valuation accuracy of the company’s manufacturing costs and their carrying value in inventory while supporting all facets of the plant operation with requested financial analysis. This position does not have any direct reports but requires the ability to influence others frequently. What Will You Do? + Partner with Plant Managers to ensure that organization is properly monitoring and controlling costs. + Partner with Materials Manager to ensure inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and periodic full physical inventory counts. + Partner with Purchasing Manager to ensure that material cost trends are understood and standard costs accurately reflect current material costs. + Support monthly close process. + Reconcile accounts and adjust as required. + Prepare reports and summaries as required for inclusion in financial reporting. + Maintain the standard cost system and cost rolls. + Generate various reports (including inventory, inventory reserve, margin, purchase price variance) for management. + Assist management in their analysis of reported information. + Ensure that accounting processes and plant operation processes are in compliance with sound internal controls. + Assists FP&A with budget and ad-hoc projects Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting /Finance. Masters Degree preferred Experience: 5+ years experience in cost accounting within a Standard Cost environment. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: + Must have strong financial control background and demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills. + Must demonstrate good judgment, well developed business ethics, integrity and consultancy skills. + Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. + Expert level Microsoft Excel skills are required. + Experience with Microsoft Access is a plus. + Experience on fully integrated ERP system is required. + Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills required. + Must have the ability to communicate persuasively and effectively and manage multiple priorities in an intense, deadline driven environment. + Requires close attention to detail, ability to audit work to identify issues and implement processes to prevent errors. + Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load. + Must have the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization and be able to work independently as well as within a variety of teams. + Must be able to handle all types of personalities and relate to people at all levels of the organization. + Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions. + Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business. + Must have a hands on approach, spending a significant amount of time working in the production environment.
