Cost Accountant

**Essential Functions of the Job:**
+ Assist with the annual/quarterly standard cost revision, provide analysis of cost changes and set annual department rates
+ Audit manufacturing variance, open WIP, zero cost, GL class code integrity and scrap reports.
+ Investigate discrepancies to determine cause, make updates as necessary to correct data and system processing errors.
+ Set costs on manufactured and purchased parts.
+ Prepare cost estimates for new or proposed products.
+ Maintain and monitor machine standards and report and research any changes that occur during the year.
+ Set work orders for rework, training, etc.
+ Research and answer any question/problem regarding the cost system.
+ Prepare management reports as requested.
+ Assist in the planning and taking of physical inventory and resolving discrepancies.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):**
+ Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
+ Ability to analyze data, draw appropriate conclusions and recommend appropriate action
+ Ability to actively listen and to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, courteous and professional manner
+ Ability to work varied hours, including overtime and weekends
+ Understands the different techniques used to evaluate a product's cost such as the standard and traditional methods
+ Ability to design or create data collection systems, analyze data, draw appropriate conclusion and then analyze the data
+ Ability to perform a variety and complicated functions with numbers
+ Establish cycle counts and investigate variances that arise
+ Adjust inventories when physical counts differ from what the company's financial records indicate
+ Review standard and actual costs for variances and report variances to management for decision-making purposes
+ Ability to perform a variety and complicated functions with numbers
+ Knowledge of GMS and safety systems to ensure compliance

**Education and Experience:**
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
Three years of experience in a manufacturing organization preferred.
**Working Conditions:**
Work mostly performed in office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing operations.
Long periods of sitting, occasional standing and walking, except for periods of physical inventory when long periods of standing and walking are required.
Frequent interaction with others to exchange information and resolve discrepancies.
Near continuous use of computer and frequent use of telephone.
