Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the administration of the corrosion control program for assigned areas, accountable for related activities including design, installation, operation, and maintenance of all corrosion control facilities with an emphasis on maximum efficiency and safety. Education:
Associate degree in Engineering / Electrical Technology, or related field from an accredited school or relevant professional experience that has developed equivalent technical, project management, and corrosion-control/prevention skills.Experience / Specific Knowledge:
Ten years of pipeline corrosion prevention experience is required.In-depth working knowledge of pipeline operations, project management, risk management concepts, engineering principles, and DOT Part 192 regulations.Understanding basic cost/benefit analysis, financial forecasting techniques, and budget development.Design, construction, and troubleshooting of corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems.Functional knowledge of utility operations and right-of-way.Certification, licenses, registrations:

Effectively manage, train and lead subordinates to ensure department goals and objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.Exercise skill in the monitoring, maintenance, and repair of cathodic protection facilities.Analyze and evaluate operations; develop and implement corrective action to resolve problems.Plan, organize, and oversee assigned work programs.Above the minimum requirements but advantageous in this position:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science discipline or equivalent technical experience.Corrosion Technician experience with sole responsibility of facilities.Supervisory and project management experience.Physical demands:
Must be able to lift a minimum of twenty pounds in awkward positions, and fifty pounds from floor to waist.Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to fifty pounds and to see, hear, walk, and speak effectively.Working Conditions:
Position subject to 24-hour call-out, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Climatic conditions are determined by location assignment and may include severe seasonal changes including both winter conditions with frequent snow or extreme summer heat and sun.May drive a 4-wheeled vehicle several hours per day and be able to navigate pipeline right-of-way without accidents or equipment damage.Travel to remote areas within a particular region may involve extended periods of driving, both on and off road and extended stays.Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities.
