THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Mail Inspector, you will process incoming and outgoing mail. You will open and examine inmate letters and packages to prevent the transmission of contraband material; coordinate deliveries from libraries, chapels, and other institutional entities; and distribute publications, magazines, and packages received at the facility. This role requires strong attention to detail to examine and search items, as well as a thorough understanding of mail room procedures and United States Postal Service rules. You will also use hand carts and dollies to distribute items, m aintain logs of inmate belongings sent to the property office, and keep current with procedural changes that may impact mail processing and delivery .

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
+ Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Two years of clerical experience, including one year in the field of corrections; or
+ Any combination of experience and/or training which provides the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Additional Requirements:
+ Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
+ You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
