The Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated Corrections Mail Inspector to join our mailroom team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the processing of all incoming and outgoing mail, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of both inmates and staff within the facility. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will be entrusted with the proper handling of all incoming and outgoing mail. Your duties will involve meticulously inspecting letters and packages sent to inmates to detect and prevent contraband from entering the facility. Attention to detail is essential as you examine and search each item, ensuring compliance with mailroom procedures and United States Postal Service regulations. Additionally, you will coordinate the safe and timely delivery of admissible items with various institutional entities by physically carrying or utilizing mailroom equipment such as handcarts and dollies to transport items to distribution points. Work Schedule and Additional Information: + Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week + Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. + Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. + You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: + Two years of clerical experience, including one year in the field of corrections;or + Any combination of experience and/or training which provides the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities. Additional Requirements: + Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. + You must be able to perform essential job functions.
