This position administers and directs probation, supervised release and parole, for adult and juvenile individuals and the Intensive Supervised Release (ISR) and Challenge Incarceration Program (CIP) in Minnesota counties under the jurisdiction of the Minnesota Department of Corrections. The services directed by this position include community supervision for individuals released from state correctional facilities; probation for individuals sentenced by the district courts; parole and probation for individuals from other states who are in Minnesota under the terms of the Interstate Compact; investigative reports for the district courts and the Hearings and Release Unit (HRU); technical assistance to counties contemplating the Community Corrections Act (CCA); liaison between field services supervisors, line staff, and department administration; development and administration of policy and procedures relative to the administration of probation, supervised release, parole, ISR, and CIP; budget administration; and supervision and direction of supervisory staff. Travel for this position may be up to 50% of the time. The specific Minnesota work location will be determined at the time of appointment based on department business needs and applicant availability. This position may be eligible to telework approximately 2-3 days per week with supervisor approval. **Minimum Qualifications** To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Four (4) years of supervisory or managerial experience in a Community Corrections agency providing supervision and investigative services to courts and/or the Department of Corrections. NOTE: A Master's degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, or a Human-Services related field may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience. A bachelor’s degree in the fields listed above or related may substitute for one (1) year of experience. Applicants meeting the above qualification(s) will be further assessed on the following: + Experience coordinating, consulting and providing technical assistance to staff on best practices/social justice working within community correction agencies. (e.g. court, state or county probation and supervised release agencies, law enforcement agencies, and other public officials). + Experience providing effective supervision to employees in a community corrections setting. + Experience developing, modifying, and evaluating community corrections programs, policies and/or state statutes. + Experience developing and administering budgets. + Demonstrated leadership experience related to developing, implementing, coaching and advancing evidence-based practices initiatives or criminal justice reform efforts. + Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to effectively correspond with county officials, the public, and employees on a daily basis. + Human relations and negotiation skills sufficient to negotiate, develop, and administer contracts for services and to collaborate with criminal justice agencies and citizen boards. **Preferred Qualifications** The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position: + Five (5) years of supervisory/managerial experience overseeing corrections agents/probation officers that provide probation and/or supervised release services. + Proficient experience related to project management and coordination, including strategic planning, budgeting, analysis, and research. + Experience in building relationships with community organizations or tribal nations when developing policy, state statute, or creating effective services. + Master’s degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Education, Law, Law Enforcement, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or a Human Services related field with an emphasis in corrections/criminal justice. **Physical Requirements** The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
