Corps Driver / Fleet Manager

LOCATION: Northwest Valley Corps

STATUS: Full time 40/wk

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent Must possess valid Arizona driver’s license and be able to obtain a CDL classification Able to secure a food handlers certificate that is required for this position. Be able to operate multiple vehicles, observing legal and defensive driving practices Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check and clear driving record Must complete Sacred Boundaries and all required safety training Possess good interpersonal and communication skills Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors, donors and program participants Must have flexible and have the ability to multi task, as responsibilities vary Ability to establish a rapport and supervise children/vulnerable adults Be physically able to lift and carry 40-75 pounds and be in reasonably good health to get in and out of the trucks. Basic knowledge of computers and data programs.

DRIVER’S RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate assigned vehicle(s) to pick up and transport perishable food donations to the corps food pantry Observe procedures for pick-up and storage of perishable food, maintaining quality of food Follow weekly schedule for these pickups, along with overseeing volunteer helpers/drivers. This includes picking ups from designated restaurants, food drives and the food bank Load and unload donations, assist the food pantry workers with placement in proper storage area (refrigerator or freezer or shelving) as needed. Complete all daily and monthly paperwork required for monthly gifts in kind report for TSA & St. Mary’s. Do daily safety inspections of the vehicle you are driving, report all issues with Corps Officer. Review route before and after to ensure the route is complete and all store picked up. Fill up the gas tank when at ½ tank before parking the vehicle. At the gas station check and fill up all other fluids and oils as necessary. Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of all vehicles in the fleet. Ensure, all vehicles are serviced on a regular bases and checking truck coolers are working every time you leave to pick up donation. Load and stack all donations and securing them for travel. When you have returned, help unload all items with the team, reporting the individual weight from each box to the store it was received. Then report those numbers to St. Mary’s in a timely manner. Provide excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from any vendor or client. Be prompt and adhere to all store schedules for these pick ups. Notify the office if you are unable to keep on time. Obey all transportation laws, and TSA Drivers Policies. Maintain a clean and safe drivers record. Communicate with the Corps Officers, other drivers and team members for any special pick ups. Update pick up logs and driving logs and turn them in weekly. Report any mechanical and safety issues with the vehicles immediately to the Corps Officer and then get them to the vendor to be fixed.. Report all accidents immediately with your supervisor and then file an insurance claim within 24 hours. Maintain Mileage and Service logs for all fleet vehicles and submit them to the finance clerk monthly.

FLEET SAFETY MANAGER’S RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure fleet vehicles are in compliance with government regulations and companies standards. Take preventive measure to ensure the safety of TSA vehicles and drivers. Make sure vehicles are ready and available to meet the Corps need for these vehicles. Make sure all vehicles are properly registered; and daily inspections are being done and when there are issues with a vehicle, they are scheduled for service while keeping the Corps Officers aware. Maintain communication with DHQ Fleet Manager. Ensure all vehicles assigned fuel card is in the vehicle, Insurance Information and current registrations are in the glove box and easy to find. Schedule Vehicles to be serviced on a regular bases based upon their mileage. Monitor fleet fuel invoices to ensure expenses are within budget and that there are no unauthorize use of these cards. Work with DHQ to assign new/old drivers gas pin numbers.

Corps Program Driving: (When Asked)

Provide transportation for program participants in corps programs, including but not limited to; Sunday Services and Mid-Week youth meetings and summer camp. Ensure passengers are properly belted and when required, they are using a booster seats in accordance with state law Follow the Protecting the Mission (PTM) guidelines and all local transportation guidelines in the PTM Safety Plan Provide supervision during programs as needed

Maintenance / Janitorial

Assist with small Maintenance Work and general janitorial duties Assist with the setup and breakdown of classroom for meetings and special events Perform all other duties as assigned by direct supervisor as they pertain to the position

Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
