Job Responsibilities:

The purpose of this role is to establish and maintain a robust supplier quality management system both within the Corporate Headquarters as well as within the Magna Exteriors Global Divisions.  The intent of the role is to utilize all available sources of data to identify top impacting suppliers and work collaboratively to continuously improve their performance (both on-site and remotely).  Additionally, use existing data is the prioritization of helping source top performing suppliers to help achieve Magna’s goal to meet/exceed customer expectations for quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership to the Corporate Office and Divisions to accomplish the tasks and duties described below.

Review on-going program, production and warranty supplier quality KPIs to review supplier performance (delivery and quality)

Define top focus supplier sites and engage with them to proactively outline and implement overall improvement plan with clear actions, owners, and due dates

Monitor supplier roadmap progression towards improvement while informing both supplier and Magna Leadership of progress or help needed

Engage with Corporate and Divisional teams to identify those suppliers which should not be recommended for new model business sourcing and those which are preferred by commodity type based on objective data

For the top impacting supplier sites (quality or delivery performance), engage with the supplier to outside roadmap for improvement using all available Magna tools.  Engagement may be remotely or in person at the supplier

Support the Corporate function for Divisions with roadblocks pertaining engagement of suppliers.  This may include, but not limited to problem solving activities, time bound actions, supplier negotiations,

Utilize problem solving, FMEA, Control Plan RedX, PPAP knowledge to guide suppliers to systemic improvement

Prepare and provide Magna Leadership updates on KPIs, Roadmaps, Roadblocks and Progress on supplier improvement path.  Updates may include both written and verbal communications and tools and at an agreed cadence

Support Internal Audit Requirements whether MAFACT, IATF or other customer or automotive industry requirements

Achieve year over year improvement on agreed performance KPIs

Engage with other Magna functions as needed to achieve the goals of the organization and the role

Escalate known issues within the company in a proactive approach to allow needed stakeholders to engage to resolve the issue

Work with IT resources to automate systems to monitor Tier 2 – Tier X performances

Review program gate packages for robustness of Divisional APQP quality checks of Tier 2 – Tier X supply base and engage with sites for systemic improvement

When necessary, prepare and present materials on supplier or division behalf to Customers

Follow all Corporate policies and procedures which will be outlined during on-boarding process

Strong organizational skills will be required to support global teams

Monitor systems to ensure integrity of data, and work with divisions where data issues are identified, including QPF APQP, Audit, Complaint and Tasks Modules

Monitor division APQP activity to ensure compliance with Magna Supplier Quality PDP requirements

Coordinate supplier performance reporting across the Group to support consistency and accuracy of operational ratings in the Magna Supplier Spend Databases

Education / Experience / Special Knowledge / Skills

Bachelor’s degree (or Bachelor’s equivalency) in Engineering or Science field or combination of education and experience.

Education or experience in the following manufacturing technology types is preferred: molding, stamping, electrical, assembly methods, paint or coatings.  Additional trainings may be required over time.

Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is Preferred

Advanced Mathematical skills in using statistical methods specifically Weibull projections is needed

Must have advanced level of Excel skills and ability to create basic to executive level powerpoint presentations

Must have experience in product design, CAE, GD&T

Should have knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Problem Solving Methods like RedX or Six Sigma

Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks within and across department to meet established and changing deadlines.

Strong communication skills: verbal, written and technical presentations to be able to engage internally or externally with level of management

Must have basic accounting knowledge and experience

Skills Testing

Excel and PowerPoint Test will be administered

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.

Will require travel, domestic and international.  (Target = 25%)

Ability to lift and handle parts to a maximum weight of thirty (30) pounds.
