Meet the Team
The Regulatory Affairs team within Cisco’s Legal department is comprised of lawyers, operational specialists, program managers, engineers, and other experts focused on topics including privacy, global trade, cybersecurity, telecom, environmental sustainability, and various regulatory practice areas. The team’s charter is aligned with influencing, interpreting, and implementing evolving and existing regulations that impact Cisco’s business and interacting with external partners on these important topics. We partner with colleagues in Legal and functional teams across the company to drive impact. You will be working with our Accessibility Office, engineering teams, and additional key collaborators to maintain compliance in a dynamic regulatory landscape.
This team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Corporate Counsel to advise on compliance with digital accessibility laws and regulations and help drive our dedication to providing inclusive experiences for our users.
Your Impact
* Leading and managing efforts focused on compliance with global digital accessibility laws and regulations and relevant global accessibility standards.
* Developing policies and guidelines crafted to evaluate the accessibility and usability of Cisco’s products and services.
* Providing legal advice and support on accessibility-related issues to various business units, including product development, marketing, and customer support teams.
* Increasing awareness and understanding of disabilities and prioritizing accessibility in technology through internal regulatory updates and training.
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including engineers, program managers, and subject matter experts, to integrate accessibility standard methodologies into the design and development processes.
* Facilitating responses to accessibility regulators, partnering with Cisco’s Government Affairs team to help shape evolving regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and licensed in good standing and 5+ years of relevant accessibility in-house legal and/or law firm experience.
* Strong knowledge of digital accessibility laws, digital accessibility regulatory compliance and reporting, global accessibility standards including WCAG, EN 301 549, and Section 508 and relevant U.S. and international accessibility laws and regulations.
* Proven track record to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop, deliver, and guide effective, efficient regulatory compliance strategies and programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working in a large technology or telecommunications company, or similar industry.
* Prefer EAA counseling mainly B2B technology companies or online platform providers.
* Prior experience working with regulatory bodies, industry groups, the U.S. Federal Communication Commission or equivalent global regulator.
