Job DetailsThe Salesforce legal team delivers innovative, trusted and outstanding legal services to advance and protect Salesforce’s interests, while building a fulfilling legal work environment. Salesforce seeks to hire an in-house lawyer for the AMER region to join the Global Employment Legal Team, reporting initially to the AMER VP. The position will provide legal counseling to the Employee Success and Employee Relations organizations and the business, and collaborate to resolve disputes in the AMER region. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly responsive and adaptable, have the ability to prioritize and satisfy deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment, and show excellent, practical business judgment.
This role is open to be office-flex to Salesforce’s offices in New York or San Francisco; remote will not be considered.
Responsibilities:Provide advice on employment related matters, which may include: hiring and recruiting, investigations, discipline and termination, leaves of absence, disability accommodation, wage and hour, anti-discrimination, compensation and benefits (including sales compensation plans and bonus programs), non-competition and non-solicitation, use of AI tools in employment practices, federal and state contractor compliance matters, protection of confidential information, and other issues.
Handle legal demand letters, charges and other disputes.
Collaborate with other employment attorneys on disputes and litigation.
Evaluate and work with outside counsel on employment related matters, including litigation.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
Participate in and influence the decision-making process with appropriate clients and stakeholders.
Consistently anticipate, communicate and propose mitigation strategies for potential risks in active projects. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities.
Handle legal projects ranging from basic to sophisticated.
Recognize when to elevate certain matters to the attention of the legal leadership.
Educate clients on legal matters, policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain relationships, credibility and trust with clients, legal team members and other colleagues.
Travel to team meetings in San Francisco or other scheduled locations.
Required Skills/Experience5+ years of legal practice in employment law.
Excellent academic credentials.
Member of at least one state bar, including state of work location.
Experience providing employment law advice, including practical applications and issue-spotting.
Experience in employment litigation in one or more states, including California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, New York, and/or Washington.
Experience responding to federal and state/local agency charges.
Experience preparing employment policies and training materials.
Proven ability to provide tailored, practical, and commercial advice in a user-friendly manner.
Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional projects.
Desired Skills/Experience1+ year in-house experience (this experience could be secondment-based).
Experience providing advice directly to clients.
Experience working with compensation and benefits programs (including sales compensation plans and bonus programs).
Experience working with a US multinational and/or publicly-traded company.
Experience working with a tech company.
