Corporate Communications - Social Impact Lead
**Introduction** The Corporate Communications team is a centralized function that sits within Corporate Affairs, leading top-tier media strategy, thought leadership engagement and events on behalf of IBM. Our primary objective is to advance business priorities and shift perception and increase brand relevancy among key audiences — all with a heavy focus on AI for business **Your role and responsibilities** In this role you will lead external communications for IBM’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and the Chief Social Impact Officer. You will collaborate with CSR leaders, subject matter experts, outside partners, comms and marketing colleagues and clients to develop a media relations and thought leadership platform that advances our strategic priorities across STEM Education and Workforce Development, Volunteerism and Employee Engagement programs, and ESG. The ideal candidate will have their finger on the pulse of current global events and industry trends, coupled with a keen ability to connect those to IBM -- our business, our clients and the issues we care about -- in a way that drives highly relevant and compelling narratives. They are a creative thinker, who understands the evolving global media landscape and wants to explore innovative new ways to advance our communications objectives beyond traditional PR tactics (but including some of those too!). They will make, manage and maintain important external and internal relationships, finding new pathways for partnership and collaboration. This is a role with high visibility both inside and outside of IBM. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with news judgement and an editorial mindset are a must. Strong project management and the ability to work effectively - with influence -- across multiple teams and projects within a large organization will also be crucial. **Required technical and professional expertise** · Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in public relations, communications and/or the media industry; Some experience in technology and/or CSR related fields strongly preferred · Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to effectively adapt tone and style for various audiences across multiple platforms and formats · Experience pitching and managing high profile media opportunities · Experience working with C-Suite and senior level executives · Experience with booking high profile conferences and speaking opportunities **Preferred technical and professional experience** · A fast-learner, with relentless curiosity and interest in a broad range of topics such as current events, emerging technologies, climate and sustainability, financial markets and services, social issues, etc. · Self-motivated and proactive, highly organized and deadline-oriented; experience managing complex projects with minimal oversight · A utility player with a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality, and the ability to transition and/or also support success across a wide range of assignments · An entrepreneurial and creative mindset; always looking for the new and the next, open to big ideas and experimentation · Knowledgeable about - or deeply interested in - IBM’s past, present and future with an understanding of its evolving position in the enterprise technology industry, global business and society IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
