Core Technician | PRN status
This position functions in support of the Operating Room and Sterile Processing teams to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Maintains overall department and room turnover, performs sterilization of instruments, performs daily pulling of OR cases and room organization, and assists with supply maintenance.

Qualifications:

Must possess one (1) of the following requirements:

Post high school education or vocational training in healthcare.Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting.Minimum of one (1) year experience in an administrative support role.Possess ability to perform in a high paced and stressful environment required.Previous work experience in the Operating Room, Materials Management, or Sterile Processing preferred.Sterile Processing Certification from HPPA or CBSPD preferred.Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

Prepares for future surgical cases by utilizing preference cards to choose inner core supplies and instruments to add to appropriate case cart(s).Collaborates with assigned leadership to update preference cards and streamline the process for identifying supplies for surgical cases per department procedure.Collaborates with Central Sterile Processing to ensure accurate sterilized equipment for upcoming procedures.Assists with sterilizing and cleaning equipment to ensure minimal surgical delays.Supports the OR team in the care of the surgical patient per department protocolAccurately and efficiently performs room turnover, cleaning, and opening per department procedures.Follows applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.In collaboration with Materials Management, reviews supplies and makes recommendations for elimination and/or additions to inventory per department procedure.Assists leadership in securing special products and/or loaner trays per department protocol.Maintains collaborative relationships with stakeholders to effectively contribute to the achievement of goals and foster a positive work environment.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.

PRN positions (also referred to as Casual, As Needed, or Per Diem) at Logan Health offer flexibility and are designed to provide coverage during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations, making them an excellent opportunity to support the team as needed.
