We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Copernicus Contributing Mission Operations Engineer to join our Italian team. Join a ground-breaking European project at the forefront of satellite technology and climate research.

This person will have the opportunity to support The European Space Agency in the Copernicus program specifically in the field of the Copernicus Contributing Mission (CCM) activities. The role will  support ESA management monitor and support the Rapid Response Desk (RRD) Service  operational performance and aid the integration of new CCM data providers.

Main Responsibilities

As Copernicus Contributing Mission Operations Engineer you will be responsible for:

Verify processes in RRD are sufficient to satisfy requirementsMonitor operational Service activities and provide feedback and guidance as requiredMonitor service delivery performance with respect to the SLAOrganise operational meetings between the CCM RRD and the Copernicus Services and support ESA on regular progress meetings with RRDProduce and maintain deliverables Operational PerformanceUser feedback reportsFulfil the following requirements specific to the integration of new CCM data providers or missions with the CCM RRDReview the CCM RRD interface to CCM data providers requirements.Review the specific tailored on-boarding plan describing the foreseen API based interfaces and supervise the integration/completion of the CCM with the CCM RRDReview validation plansLiase with relevant parties to ensure operational readinessSupport Service Readiness Reviews (SRR) for CCM data providersCoordinate and oversee the end-to-end CCM data providers-CCM RRD system anomaly management process.Contribute to initiatives to develop and/or improve the service operations of the CCM RRD and the CCM data providers, including tracking and prioritization of changes and trade-off analyses to cope with complex changes Successful Candidate

Your skills:

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

Degree in a relevant technical field such as Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Geography, GeosciencesThe ability to communicate both written and spoken in English At least 5 years of experience in a directly relevant Space EO industrial or research environmentKnowledge of ESA EO missions and their operational contextAwareness of Copernicus environment stakeholder and Copernicus Contributing MissionsYou have a good knowledge of GIS and related applications and toolsGood documentation skills, including writing and editing complex technical reports.Proficiency in MS Office ToolsGood communication skillsYou are results oriented and user oriented focusingYou are a team player with an appetite for learning

The following skills would be highly desirable: 

Knowledge of Earth Science research communityExperience in System EngineeringGround Segment experience, including development and IVVExperience with cloud infrastructure and API-based interfacesExperience in working in an international contextExperience in EO Data ProcessingExperience with OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium Standard)

Rome's central location in Italy offers excellent transportation links within the city and across the country. The city is well-connected by a network of highways and railways, with Ciampino Airport or Fiumicino, providing convenient access to international destinations.
