**Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):**
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience working in a team setting.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Psychology, Healthcare, Neuroscience, Biology or related field. Research experience. Experience in a Clinical Setting. Experience with patients.
**Brief Description of Duties:**
The Research Support Specialist (RSS) will participate in a study funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The goal of the study is to understand the relationship between sleep and depression. The study involves night and weekend hours and multiple candidates are needed to cover all shifts. The RSS will work with human research participants with major depressive disorder.
The RSS will be part of a study team dedicated to improving the lives of those with mental illness. The RSS will collaborate with clinicians, image analysts and researchers in the Center for Understanding Biology using Imaging Technology (CUBIT). Within CUBIT, multiple brain imaging studies, sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), within NIH, and other funding agencies, are performed in order to better understand, diagnose and treat psychiatric illnesses like major depressive disorder.
The CUBIT environment is cutting-edge, collaborative and educational. The role of the RSS is critical in ensuring a calm and pleasant experience for all participants. As such, the RSS is a critical part of the study team. Following their CUBIT experience and training, those in the RSS position have high success rates in acceptance to doctoral programs, nursing and medical school.
**Duties:**
+ Monitoring the research participant and ensuring their comfort.
+ Preparing for the research study including discussing study protocol.
+ Documenting research encounters.
+ Communicating with the Institutional Revenue Board (IRB) and the study team.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Special Notes:**
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
This is a per diem position and the position hours will be from 8PM to 8AM (overnight).
**Evening and weekend work will be required at times.**
