The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
Registers patients, complete pre-registrations, verify benefits, obtain reports and enter all radiology orders. Secures patient account by obtaining appropriate demographic, insurance and medical information and enters into the STAR System. Strives to minimize patient wait time prior to patient arrival to the treatment areas improving customer satisfaction as it relates to the registration process and general communications. Performs all duties in a manner, which promotes team concepts and reflects RWJBarnabas Health philosophy. Assumes responsibility for obtaining all blood/non-blood specimens of patients seen in physician s office by venipuncture from the arm and/or micro collections from fingers in a variety of collection tubes or capillaries, some of which contain preservatives or anticoagulants. Prepares all specimens to be sent to appropriate laboratories and completes applicable paperwork. Assumes responsibility for recognizing situation that must be brought to the attention of the Office Manager onsite or the designated supervisor of the Department of Pathology at Jersey City medical Center. Performs additional tasks as requested by the Office Manager.

Required:
High school graduate or GED equivalentSuccessful completion of phlebotomy training with 2-3 years of experience is required1-2 years patient processing experienceType 30-40wpmKnowledge of basic computer skillsPreferred:
Customer service experience preferredCertification of phlebotomy preferredFamiliarity of Medical terminology preferredEssential Functions:
Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.Adheres to safety policies regarding safe handling/disposal of specimens, chemicals, biohazardous materials and sharps; maintains a clean and safe work environment and maintains patient and professional confidentiality.Answers telephone in a timely manner giving factual information according to the nature of the question and within hospital guidelines.Completes mandatory education in a timely manner. Participates in on-going education (in service, continuing education, etc.).Follows prescribed methods for needle/syringe control; reports unsafe conditions.Maintains positive patient identification through specimen collection and processing.Observes the departmental dress code.Recognizes situations that must be brought to the attention of the Office Manager and/or the Manager of Support Services at Jersey City Medical Center.Reviews on a periodic basis all policy, procedure and instrument manuals in order to ensure compliance and maintain current knowledge of procedures.Washes hands before and after each patient.Scheduling Requirements:
