Coordinator for Student Involvement and Student Organizations

The Coordinator has primary responsibility for recognizing, supporting, and advising over 200 student organizations on the UMaine campus. They are responsible for engaging organization leaders and advisors to ensure all parties are well-positioned to take full advantage of available resources and opportunities. The Coordinator is a member of the Student Involvement leadership team and contributes to setting the direction and priorities of the department. They play an essential role in a wide array of collaborations with and among student organizations, as well as with academic and administrative units across the university.
The Coordinator works closely with the University’s student government to support the ongoing development of student involvement on campus. They collaborate with a range of other departments, in addition to UMaine student organizations, to develop and coordinate meaningful student developmental opportunities across campus. There will be a one time option at the time of appointment for a 11 month or 12 month work year. Typical hiring salary for this 11-month work year position is $41,250 and the 12-month is $45,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree required
+ Experience in student activities and student programming.
+ Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
+ Self-motivation and thoroughness are essential qualities for this position.
+ This person must be student friendly and able to interact easily with all members of a university community, and must be able to articulate a clear and compelling conceptualization of student involvement and community engagement.
+ Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner with all levels of the university and division, including those from underrepresented groups, are required.
Preferred:
+ Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, or education administration.
+ Previous work with and direct advising of events and student organizations on a college campus.
