Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. Versant is seeking a Coordinator to support the operational needs of its News Standards and Partnerships Team for MSNBC and CNBC. This coordinator will be a key player in the launch of a new company and news gathering operation attached to some of the most trusted and recognizable brands in media. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in pursuing a career in journalism, as well as a start-up mentality and an eagerness to learn and take on new projects and responsibilities. You’ll wear many hats in supporting our journalists and advancing our journalism. The job reports to the Senior Vice President for Standards and Partnerships. The Versant News Standards Team will provide support and guidance to editorial teams across cable, digital and audio platforms, setting and maintaining editorial and ethical guidelines to safeguard the credibility and integrity of our journalism. In addition, this position will support an expanding news partnerships operation that seeks to advance our journalism through strategic partnerships with other news organizations and content producers. Responsibilities: + Perform general administrative duties (scheduling, planning meetings, managing a public-facing inbox, planning travel arrangements, submitting expense reports, etc.) + Prepare documents and presentations using Excel, Word and PowerPoint + Assist on ad hoc projects and other miscellaneous duties assigned by supervisors + Maintain close understanding of current news events + Organize internal and external meetings with potential and ongoing media partners + Assist in research and other editorial projects and operational needs + At least 1 year of experience or training in journalism or news media + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience + Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights, under tight deadline pressure, occasionally with little or no warning (e.g. breaking news). + Must be willing and able to work in New York City Desired Qualifications: + Strong desire to pursue a career in journalism + Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events + Experience with newsrooms and newsgathering operations + Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments + Excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills + Professional phone and office manner, including when handling high-level confidential and sensitive company information + Ability to take initiative and self-start + Strong interpersonal & communication skills + Ability to manage relationships with clients, and interact with senior leadership and talent across the organization Additional Job Requirements: + Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
