Coordinator, Payment Administration & Contract Tracking (PACT)

The Payment Administration & Contract Tracking (PACT) team primarily supports the UCAN Scripted Series team, and sits within the UCAN Business Affairs team.  The PACT team is responsible for ensuring that Above-The-Line (ATL) talent on self-managed series are paid correctly and on-time, as well as tracking a variety of important option dates and deadlines. The PACT team also supports the Local Language Originals, Stand-up Comedy, Diversity & Inclusion, and Live Events teams on an ad-hoc/as needed basis.  

The Role:

This is a highly cross-functional role, and the successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with the BA, Production Finance, Labor, Tax, Production and Creative teams, in addition to our Production Accounting teams.  This person will also act as a strategic thought partner to those cross-functional teams as we innovate and experiment with new deal structures.  The Payment Administration & Contract Tracking Coordinator will have extremely strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will exemplify the core Netflix Values, be adaptable to change and able to juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time.  This person will need to be self-motivated and must have the ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight time-frames in a fast-paced environment.  

In This Role You Will:

​Proactively review, evaluate and execute the contractual ​financial ​obligations of agreements and deal terms for ATL talent working on UCAN self-managed series both domestically and internationally.  Our team handles payments for rights, scripts, writers, producers, directors, lead cast and more.  Projects range from ½-hour sitcoms  to 1-hour dramatic series, and include payments from development through launch. 

Prepare one-time payment authorizations and recurring payment schedules for ATL talent to facilitate timely and accurate payments.  Payments may be processed internally or through production accounting teams, and via accounts payable or payroll.  Our team provides guidance for applicable guild minimums, as well as guild PH&W rates and caps.  In addition, we consult with the Production Tax team re: loan out corporations, pay entities, local tax withholding obligations and incentive considerations, etc. 

Track deadlines for ATL deals from the development phase through reversion, including subsequent seasons, talent and rights option deadlines and hold periods. We draft and issue relevant notices, including extensions, option exercise and report-to-work notices. We create and distribute option summaries to socialize subsequent season deadlines, track writers' room engagements, fees for various guild thresholds and order-to-series deadlines.

Create and maintain​ WGA tracking spreadsheets and liaise with writers’ room support staff, as well as Netflix Creative and Legal teams, for episodic script reporting and to ensure timely payments.   

Prepare DGA and DGC director deal memos for execution 

Collect ATL payroll start paperwork, and ensure that it is accurate and complete 

Act as an internal and external ​point-of-contact​ for payment and deadline related questions

Create and maintain filing for payments and back-up within a cloud-based document management system, enter financial information into a shared deal/contract database, and update/maintain various trackers for both the PACT team and cross functional teams. 

Periodically prepare cost analysis scenarios for various teams

Maintain flexibility and openness to take on additional projects as necessary, even outside of your area of expertise

Proactively problem solve, be solution-oriented, respond positively to change and new ideas, and embrace and advocate for diversity and inclusion. 

About You: 

You have 3-5 years of experience in legal and/or business affairs at a television studio, production company or law firm, or experience in production payroll, production finance, or contracts and payments administration

You have the ability to ​read, ​understand and analyze legal contracts with an emphasis on financial obligations and deadlines, and the ability to articulate issues using​ creative, production and financial context

You are familiar with the above-the-line union labor agreements (e.g., DGA, WGA, SAG-AFTRA).

You are proficient with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar and Mail)

Additional knowledge of entertainment payroll practices outside of the US is a bonus, but not required. 

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $70,000 - $175,000.
