Job description:

PURPOSE

To lead and supervise the draughting team in the preparation, review, and management of technical drawings for mining infrastructure, plant equipment, and project installations. The role ensures that all drawings meet engineering standards, comply with safety and operational requirements.

KEY RENSPOSIBILITIES

Supervise a team of draughtsmen to ensure timely and accurate production of mechanical, structural, and civil drawings.Review and verify all technical drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with site specifications.Allocate draughting tasks based on priorities and deadlines.Maintain drawing registers and ensure proper version control and documentation practices.Liaise with engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure design alignment with site requirements.Support the development and updating of ‘as-built’ drawings after plant modifications and installations.Conduct site visits to confirm measurements and support drawing updates.Train and mentor junior draughtsmen, ensuring continuous improvement in technical skills.Ensure adherence to internal draughting standards and industry best practices.Promote a safe working culture and ensure all team activities align with mine safety protocols.Ensure adherence to internal draughting standards and industry best practices.Promote a safe working culture and ensure all team activities align with mine safety protocols.

Qualifications

Grade 12 School CertificateDiploma or Advanced Certificate in Engineering Draughting, Mechanical.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or similar CAD softwareMember of EIZ (Engineering Institution of Zambia) is an advantage

EXPEREINCE

Minimum 8 years of experience in a draughting role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory positionPrevious experience in a mining is essentialStrong portfolio of mechanical drafting, including fabrication and construction drawings

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Physically able to work in industrial and mining environments, including workshops, maintenance yards, and operational sites.Willingness to work shifts, including overtime, weekends, and during plant shutdowns or emergency repairs.Competent in interpreting and applying technical drawings, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.Skilled in coordinating machining and fabrication activities, including use of CNC.Proficient in using maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto) for job scheduling and reporting.
