This position primarily handles Resin finished goods shipping and manages on-hand inventories for the Resin department. Conducts daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies. Use personal accountability to assist with carrying out duties, responsibilities and authority as defined in HSE programs, practices and procedures. Understand HSE policies and programs. Work safely, with respect to health and environmental requirements. Responsible for meeting Plant Quality System responsibilities and quality and service requirements for customers, including ISO 9001 Quality standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1/ Health, Safety & Environment (Section 1 applies to all jobs)
Works safely with respect to health, safety and environmental requirements including following all safety rules.Maintains a clean and safe work area.Conducts daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies.Demonstrates personal accountability to assist with carrying out duties, responsibilities and authority as defined in HSE programs, practices and procedures.Assures compliance to PSM standards (MOC’s, PSSR’s, Procedures, Audits, etc.)Maintains protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority. Demonstrates and practices safe handling of hand tools and power tools.2/ Schedule Resin Finished Goods Shipments to Oxy Vinyls Customer Base
Interprets daily, the SAP Delivery Due Reports to identify required customer orders from plant (565) and transload terminal (T425).Determines, using SAP/PRI/LIMS best suitable on-hand inventory to meet customer requirements.Communicates with trucking firms, to arrange pickup and delivery of customer orders.Processes resin rail shipments within SAP Database.Reviews previous days shipping documentation vs. system entries, to verify data integrity.3/ Manage Resin on-hand finished goods inventories
Maintains sufficient silo storage space to ensure production uptime.Reports Daily PVC Storage inventory and ensures sufficient inventory for upcoming orders. Communicates with rail crew, to position rail inventory for all trainload shipments.Schedules hopper car loading to meet order requirements.Interfaces with Production, Lab, and Distribution staff to best manage daily production.Isolates and segregates any non-prime production. Turnover material and PRI/SAP database.Co-ordinates re-working of Grade 4 inventory.4/ General Duties
Interfaces with Account Reps, Quality/Distribution Supervisors/Managers to resolve Customer complaints.Functions as the plant representative to sign (electronically) the Bills of Lading for all PVC truck and rail shipments leaving the plant. This must be changed upon transition to a new Traffic Coordinator.Interacts with carriers regarding transportation concerns.Co-ordinates customer returns and completes SAP system entry.Updates Niagara Hopper Car Fleet daily, within IT system.Authorizes carrier invoices for accessorial charges and forward to Head Office for payment.Completes miscellaneous shipments in compliance with TOSCA and TDGA when applicable.Supports Department objectives.Tracks inbound VCM cars.Reports daily VCM inventory and verifies shipment schedule will meet plant’s production needs.Reconciles daily VCM cars unloaded in SAP.Updates “Railtracs” system daily with hopper car “load and holds”.Works with Oxy maintenance and Dallas transportation to co-ordinate hopper car shop repairs.Works with CMR to co-ordinate on site minor hopper car repairs.Assists plant Controller with month end FG + VCM tracking.Participates in quarterly “transportation and distribution” conference calls.Qualifications:
Education: Successful completion of a community college diploma, preferably in Business Administration or a (STEM) diploma program (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math). General knowledge of plant distribution processes, logistics of raw materials and finished goods shipments and related systems. General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations. Knowledge of and ability to operate computer software applications. (SAP knowledge preferred).
Experience: Developed interpersonal / communication and ability to work cooperatively and respectfully within a team. Ability to deal with other staff and corporate with tact, diplomacy and courtesy. Must be able to multi-task, ensure accuracy and have strong attention to details. Required to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant. Related experience in plant operations with a focus on plant distribution and logistics and be familiar with plant operations, systems, processes and procedures would be an asset.
Physical requirements – Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including sitting, walking, bending, stooping etc. Must have attention to detail and ability to concentrate on computer screens and accuracy of data. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
