Cook - Palmer Center Overview Requisition Number: 7389 Date Posted: 6/27/2025 Location: Palmer Address: 1113 Flatbush Road City: Kingston Category: Food Services/Hospitality Description We are seeking a full-time Cook to join our team at Palmer Center! As the Cook for the Palmer ICFs, this position is responsible for ensuring the persons supported receive a nourishing, well-balanced diet that contains a variety of foods from the food groups currently recommended by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), including modified and specially prescribed diets that are altered in any way to enable the persons supported to eat (e.g. food that is chopped, pureed, etc.), or diets that are intended to correct or prevent a nutritional deficiency or health problem. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: + Offer three nourishing, well balanced meals daily. + Prepare meals and snacks using menus written by a consulting dietitian, assuring nutritional adequacy. + Unless otherwise specified by medical needs, assure meals are prepared in accordance with the latest edition of the recommended dietary allowances of the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences, adjusted for age, sex, disability, and activity. + Follow current state requirements for safe food temperatures and adhere to Article 14 of the state Sanitary Code; ensuring a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. + Ensure awareness of all food allergies and potential for adverse food/drug interactions. + Meet mandated state and Federal regulations for food service. + Follow all regulatory guidance for Intermediate Care Facilities found in the State Operations Manual - CMS Section 483.480 Food and Nutrition Services and Meal Services. SCHEDULE: 40/Monday through Friday/day hours, must be flexible STARTING SALARY: $ 24.04 to $ 26.45 per hour Minimum Requirements + High school diploma. + Minimum 3 years training and experience with NYS Health Code. + Knowledge in maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment, purchasing of food and supplies, quantity food preparation, special diet modifications, and in accurately purchasing and maintaining inventory record. + Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
