Responsibilities Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Weigh, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modify menu items. Mix ingredients according to precisely written recipes Covers, dates, and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Cleans, stores, and maintains all equipment and work areas after each use. Follows established sanitation procedures when handling food. ensuring foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth. Disassembles, cleans and assembles component parts and accessories, following safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment. Uses and cleans a variety of cooking utensils Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum qualifications: 1. Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess. 2. Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable: a. Neatness and good grooming b. Dependability c. Ability to work under pressure Experience meeting qualification requirements MUST be reflected in resume to be considered eligible. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
