Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Spare Time Grill, Beale AFB, CA. You will be scheduled to work anywhere from 0-40 hours per week; hours are not guaranteed. This position does not receive benefits. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Responsibilities 1. As a working leader, performs the following types of duties: Provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments: relays instructions from the supervisor for work assignments; gets the work started and sets the work pace; gives on ­the-job training; demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures that the worksite materials and tools are available; and ensures that employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules. Report to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees on disciplinary problems. 2. Performs a full range of quality fast food short order cooking. Performs simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items that require minimum preparation such as, hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, wraps, pancakes, sausage and eggs. Prepares convenience type of items by deep fat frying an assortment of items; such as hot wings, hash browns, chicken nuggets and French fries. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, measuring and assembling ingredients for regular menu items.3. Prepares orders which require coordinating the cooking of several items with different cooking times and characteristics. Plans the cooking process to produce complete meals on time and at the proper temperature. 4. Provides customer service to patrons at the cash register by taking and ringing up orders, receiving money and making change. Answers questions pertaining to menu items and general facility inquiries. 5. Sets up and replenishes stock levels, covers, dates and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Washes dishes, pots, pans and clean kitchen equipment and area. 6. Performs other related duties as assigned. III. CONTROLS OVER WORK: Receives assignments from the supervisor's worksheet, standardized recipes, or from general oral or written instructions. Supervisor checks work and is available for assistance during busy time or staffing shortage. IV.OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. Skill and Knowledge: Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish cooking assignments. Knowledge of food preparation principles and characteristics of foods. Knowledge of planning processes to ensure entire meals are prepared and cooked on time. Ability to perform yield testing to determine portion cost and the ability to adjust ingredients in standardized recipes. Knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food.2. Physical Effort: Frequently lifting objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lifting over 40 pounds. Continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing and bending. 3. Working Conditions: Works in hot and noisy kitchens. Exposed to steam, fumes and odors. Danger of falling, burns and cuts. Exposed to extreme temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezer units. Qualifying Experience: Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish cooking assignments. Must have experience in and knowledge of food preparation principles and characteristics of food and of planning processes to ensure entire meals are prepared and cooked on time. Must be able to perform yield resting to determine portion cost and to adjust ingredients in standardized recipes. Knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food. Experience and knowledge must have been gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity. Applicant should have experience which demonstrates the ability explain or demonstrate how to do work; follow written or verbal instructions; determine tools, materials and personnel required to perform tasks; identify problems and obtain required decisions or information from supervisor; and effectively communicate with coworkers and supervisor. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
