Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead Cook to join our culinary team at RWJBarnabas Health. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of prior cooking experience in a healthcare facility or restaurant setting. This role is essential in ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals for our staff.

Essential Functions:

Prepare main entrees for breakfast and lunch according to established standards and forecasted amounts, ensuring that appearance, taste, and temperature meet acceptable levels prior to meal serviceSet up the service line for both breakfast and lunch, ensuring a smooth and efficient serviceMaintain a clean and sanitized work area daily, adhering to all health and safety regulationsAssist team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and supportive kitchen environmentContribute to the planning of weekly menus and the development of new menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients and dietary considerationsDemonstrate strict adherence to food storage guidelines and report any identified safety issues, such as hazardous environments (e.g., damaged floors, walls, ceiling tiles, or unsecured areas)Perform a variety of cooking duties, including grilling and preparing food items, while taking customer requests into accountCheck supplies in assigned areas and replenish as needed to ensure continuous kitchen operationsAssist with the preparation of menu items, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes served
