We are currently seeking a full-time (32 hours per week) cook/assistant cook. Our team provides compassionate care to elderly people who need assistance managing their health care needs. We provide several levels of care from independent living, to nursing care, skilled nursing care and memory care. The cook/assistant cook will be part of a team that provides nutritional meals and snacks to residents residing in all care levels. This position will be our evening cook two days per week and our morning cook’s assistant two days per week. Our cooks prepare high quality dishes delivering a menu that delights our residents. **Responsibilities:** + Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients + Cook food in a timely manner + Delegate tasks to kitchen staff + Ensure appealing plate presentation + Supervise dietary aides and assist as needed + Slightly modify recipes to meet resident needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy, soft or pureed) + Monitor food stock and assist with placing orders + Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items + Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients + Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area **Requirements:** + A minimum of one-year industrial cooking experience required + Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes + Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment + Pre-employment physical and TB test + Excellent time management skills + Familiarity with sanitation regulations + High school diploma or GED required + Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques preferred + Schedule availability to work every third weekend and every third holiday **Job Details:** + Schedule: 6:00 am –2:00 pm and 11:30 am – 7:30 pm and including working every other weekend and holiday + Starting wage: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on previous work experience **Benefits and Rewards:** + Health, dental and vision insurance + Paid short and long term disability insurance + Vacation + Paid birthday off + Free meal every shift + 8-hour shifts (paid lunch and breaks) + Paid Holidays (double time) + 401K with employer match + Life Insurance + Employee Assistance Program + Tuition program + Employee recognition events throughout the year + Eligible for an annual bonus + Opportunities to advance + Personal satisfaction gained from doing work that is fulfilling Bethany has a reputation for providing exceptional care!
