Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Stukeley Inn, 423d Force Support Squadron, RAF Alconbury, United Kingdom. There are no guaranteed hours, but the incumbent may be expected to work a varying schedule, from 0-40 hours per week. This position requires regular standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching. Responsibilities 1. Performs duties which include, but are not limited to, the following: roasts, broils, bakes, fries, boils, steams and stews meats, fish and poultry. 2. Prepares entire meals which requires coordinating the cooking of several items with different cooking times and characteristics. Plans the cooking process to produce complete meals on time and at the proper temperature. 3. Adjusts standardized recipes for number of servings, performs yield testing; prepares cold food platters and carves vegetables and fruits as garnishes for food platters and dishes. Eligible applicants must possess a US-issued social security number and be able to provide documentation proving residency status in the UK. Applicants cannot be 'ordinarily resident'. A person is considered to be 'ordinarily resident' if they have resided in the United Kingdom (UK) for more than 366 days without an affiliation to the US Visiting Forces. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between the US and the UK, British citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, they may be eligible to apply for local national positions on base. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience (MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME): 1. Must have experience in and knowledge of food preparation principles and characteristics of food, and of planning processes to ensure entire meals are prepared and cooked on time. 2.Must be able to perform yield testing to determine portion cost and to adjust ingredients in standardized recipes. Must have knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food. 3. Experience and knowledge must have been gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity. 4. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 60/90 days after the closing date. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. LQA is not authorized. Post Allowance is authorized for Regular Full Time employment category. This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force. If the selectee requires componency or visa sponsorship through RAF Alconbury, the hiring activity may, at his or her discretion, be able to provide 20 guaranteed hours per week.
