Position SummaryThe Conveyor Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated conveyor and baggage handling systems at airport facilities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working directly with baggage handling systems or similar automated material handling equipment. The role requires a strong technical background, hands-on mechanical and electrical skills, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform scheduled preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on airport baggage handling conveyors, sorters, and related control systems.Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and PLC/software faults; implement corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime.Respond to equipment alarms, breakdowns, and emergency maintenance requests in a timely and effective manner.Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals for equipment installation, modification, and repair.Collaborate with airport operations staff and other technical teams to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption to airport services.Document all maintenance activities using the company’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).Train, supervise, or mentor junior technicians as neededEnsure compliance with safety regulations, airport operations protocols, and company policies.Assist with system upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning of new equipment as needed.QualificationsMinimum 5 years of hands-on experience in conveyor/baggage handling system maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including motors, gearboxes, sensors, actuators, and control panels.Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and automation technologies used in baggage handling systems.Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Able to work independently and as part of a team.Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and respond to emergency call-outs as required by airport operations.Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand or move for extended periods.Preferred QualificationsExperience working at airports or in regulated transportation infrastructure environments.Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards applicable to conveyor operations.Estimated total compensation for this position:
