Controls Project Developer

Job Summary:

Trane Texas/Gulf Coast is hiring a Controls Project Developer to join our team; this position will be based out of the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.  This role includes working with internal teams and customers to identify and develop building automation projects, including scope of work development, design of automation systems, and proposal support. Trane always focuses on a total solution to provide our customers with the most energy efficient buildings!  This position is remote within geography. 

 

What you will do:

Responsible for the cost estimates consisting of materials, subcontractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist Control Account Managers in bidding on or determining the price and scope of the project.Responsible for creating installation drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings, and transition to service. Responsible for obtaining and reviewing contract documents; proposals mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittals, etc. for incorporation into the design of an automation system.Responsible for advanced sequences of operations, which meet the project requirements for owner direct solutions. Designs detailed cost estimates including system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposal, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and points list.Responsible for holding pre-bid meeting with Controls Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc.Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects. Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials and services.

·       Assist Control Account Managers by determining the need for out-sourced engineering involvement, after detailed site surveys and development.

·       Capability to work with minimal supervision as well as the ability to advise and guide other Control Engineers, TK/ CS Project Developers, and Control Estimators.   

 

What you will bring:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in controls estimating, controls engineering, controls project management; or seven (7) to ten (10) years of controls field experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in controls estimating, controls engineering or controls project management.Must have proven experience with Building Automation, HVAC Controls and HVAC Systems.Working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc. preferred. Proven experience prioritizing tasks in order to meet tight deadlines within a high paced environment with attention to detail.Experienced working directly with building owners, EORs, and facility managers.Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.Must be able to travel and possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:

o   DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

 

Base Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000 plus incentive

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
