Controls Engineer
Job Title: Senior Controls EngineerJob Description

The Senior Controls Engineer will interact directly with customers to develop specifications and implement, test, commission, and qualify automation solutions. The role involves designing and implementing innovative automation solutions and control systems for industrial processes and machinery.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery.Develop control system architecture and select appropriate components.Create detailed schematic diagrams and system documentation.Program controllers (PLC, DCS/DeltaV) using languages such as Ladder Logic, Sequential Function Chart, and Structured Text.Develop HMI/SCADA systems and process visualization.Create databases for historical data archiving and display.Commission and implement control systems at client sites.Create project execution plans, work breakdown structures, and associated budgets.Prioritize and schedule tasks.Attend and contribute to project status meetings.Oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $1M.
Essential SkillsPLC programming, SCADA, HMI.Pharma/Life Science experience with validated systems and GMP documentation.Proficiency in Rockwell Automation Factory Talk for PLC programming.Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition for SCADA/HMI.Knowledge of process systems involving flows, temperatures, and chemical reactions.Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.More than 5 years of experience in PLC, FDA validation, DCS, Delta-V, electrical schematics, and control panels.
Additional Skills & QualificationsIn-depth understanding of PLC and HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, FactoryTalk, PlantPax, and Inductive Automation Ignition.Experience in industries such as Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Device, or other System Integrators.Understanding of DCS hardware/software platforms like Emerson DeltaV or similar is a plus.Knowledge of S88 Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems.Experience in designing electrical schematics and control panels is a plus.Proficiency with AutoCAD is also desired.
Work Environment

The position offers a hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and visits to client sites as needed. The role supports clients primarily in the Life Sciences sector, mainly in the Orange County area, but also in other regions as required. Projects typically last 5-6 months, allowing for remote work with scheduled client visits. The team consists of 12 Controls Engineers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
