Controls Engineer Overview: We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to lead and support automation projects involving control system design, panel layout, PLC and HMI programming, instrumentation, and commissioning. This role focuses on designing electrical systems and automating APT’s custom products to exceed client expectations. You’ll collaborate with Process Engineers on projects ranging from $500K to $50M+, with automation scopes typically between $100K and $2M. Key Responsibilities: + Design and develop control systems and electrical panels. + Program PLCs and HMIs, primarily using Rockwell Automation platforms. + Integrate instrumentation and control components. + Provide on-site startup and commissioning support. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions. Required Skills & Experience: + 3+ years of experience in custom automation. + Proficiency in PLC programming, especially Allen-Bradley systems. + Strong understanding of electrical design, controls engineering, and instrumentation. + Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors. + Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. + Willingness to travel up to 30%. Preferred Qualifications: + Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience. + Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPlan. + Familiarity with Ignition or Wonderware SCADA platforms. + Background in the food and beverage industry.
